Dundee United chairman Eddie Thompson has backed Craig Brewster.
Dundee United chairman Eddie Thompson has backed Craig Brewster to remain in charge at Tannadice.
Brewster's future has been the subject of intense speculation after a disastrous run of form.
United are languishing at the bottom of the table after losing 3-1 to Aberdeen at the weekend.
Brewster has only managed to win three of his 29 matches in charge at Tannadice since taking over as manager last January.
Thompson held talks with Brewster on Monday, but the United supreme insists the under-fire manager will remain in charge of the club.
"Craig is still the manager. We just had our normal Monday meeting," said Thompson.
Meanwhile, Dundee United youngster David Goodwillie has signed a new three-and-a-half-year contract at the club.
The contract extension will keep Goodwillie at the club until the summer of 2010 and the young striker was delighted to pledge his future to the Tayside outfit.
"I am very happy at this club and the standard of coaching which I have received throughout my time here," Goodwillie told the club's official website.
"I will continue to develop here and I am looking forward to challenging for a regular first-team place."
