Inverness CT overcame an early setback to crush Alloa 6-1 in the CIS Insurance Cup.Inverness Caledonian Thistle overcame an early setback to crush Alloa Athletic 6-1 in the CIS Insurance Cup.
The Second Division side had the temerity to take the lead away from home but were then ruthlessly put to the sword by their SPL opponents.
Alloa took the lead after just two minutes when Andy Brown stooped to head home Darran Thomson's cross.
The hosts were level on 18 minutes when Barry Wilson finished clinically after a one-two with Dennis Wyness and two minutes later Richard Hart scored with a 35-yard thunderbolt.
On 37 minutes, it became 3-1 as Wyness teed up Roy McBain to score and Craig Dargo's pass provided Russell Duncan with the fourth goal on 43 minutes.
Inverness continued the romp in the second half with Grant Munro adding his name to the scoresheet three minutes after the restart.
Wyness deservedly put his name on the list of scorers when he rounded off the goal glut with the sixth strike three minutes from the finish.
