Darren Randolph was fortunate to avoid conceding a penalty and receiving a red card for appearing to go out of his way to collide with Callum Paterson in the 13th minute - but McCall insisted he had not seen it closely enough to be sure.
He said: "Hand on heart, I've not seen it again. I'm led to believe it could possibly have been a red card.
"In real time, I thought Daz had come out and collected the ball and they had collided. I didn't think there was anything to it.
"Paterson is a brave boy and he goes in where it hurts. At the time I thought it was just a coming together.
"I've been told there is a possibility it could have been a penalty kick and a sending-off. If that's the case, then we have had a little bit of luck there, but probably the first bit this season.
"We could have had a penalty at Tynecastle just as easily when (Andy) Webster forearm-smashed (Michael) Higdon."
Referee Crawford Allan was close by, but decided it was accidental.
