Buddies swoop for former defender

St Mirren have completed the signing of defender Marc McAusland, who has penned a three-year deal with his former club. The 21-year-old left the Buddies last summer after making just six substitute appearances for his boyhood club, moving to Queen of the South. But McAusland has now returned to his former side, as new manager Danny Lennon makes him the eighth addition to his squad. "It is definitely good to be back," McAusland told the club's official website. "My time at Queen of the South was really good but everybody knows I'm a Paisley boy and a St Mirren fan so it is great to be back. "Leaving last year was a big decision but I went to Queen of the South because I thought I had the chance of playing first team football. "And I got that first-team experience there by playing over 30 games, so I got what I was looking for. "The opportunity of coming back to St Mirren was too hard for me to resist so I'm happy to sign up here again. "I think I have developed well over the last year as a player. The First Division is a very physical league so it was a big learning curve but it was an experience that I really enjoyed." Centre-back McAusland leaves Queen of the South after making 30 appearances for the club last term.
