Pars face more injury woe

Scott Thomson and Georgi Hristov have both been sidelined for Dunfermline.

Dunfermline Athletic face a mounting injury crisis with the news that Scott Thomson and Georgi Hristov have been sidelined.

Boss Davie Hay will now be without six first team members as he prepares for the daunting task of taking on Glasgow giants Celtic on Saturday.

Skipper Thomson (pictured) misses the game after an X-ray revealed he sustained a badly bruised foot, and the 33-year-old will be sorely missed at the heart of the Pars defence.

January signing, striker Hristov is suffering from a hamstring strain as the ex-Barnsley man continues to suffer bad injury luck in his career.

These two latest developments follow Wednesday's news that Lee Makel is undergoing surgery for a cartilage problem, whilst Billy Mehmet, Aaron Labonte, Noel Hunt and Greg Shields are long-term victims.

However Hay is confident that his squad can cope with the task being asked of them.

"It is not ideal having so many absentees but whoever plays will have to give of their best and that is what we will be doing," said Hay.
