Kevin Kyle is ready to put 18 months of injury hell behind him and is hoping a spell training with St Johnstone will earn him another shot at the Scottish Premier League.
The 31-year-old has endured a nightmare time with a persistent hip problem, resulting in him being cast into the free agent market.
The Scotland international does, however, boast a proven track record when it comes to goal-getting in top-flight football.
He believes that is where he deserves to be and is ready to shun an offer from his former Kilmarnock and Hearts boss Jim Jefferies to join him at Dunfermline.
Kyle is setting his sights on a permanent deal at St Johnstone, with Steve Lomas having expressed a desire to bring his services on board.

"Saints are looking for a target man and Steve Lomas said he would love to have me and he would speak to his chairman," Kyle said in the
Daily Record.
"I have been training with them for a couple of days and the manager said he might want to have a look at me in their game against Bristol City on Saturday.
"But hopefully he saw enough in training to know what I can do and saw that I am fine again with regards my hip.
"I know I'm going to be a good signing for somebody.
"Jim Jefferies has been great and made me an offer. But I want to play at the highest level I can and I need to give myself the chance to do that."
