Lyon striker Karim Benzema is keen to make his mark in the side this season.
Benzema started his Ligue 1 campaign on a high as he scored against Auxerre in their 2-0 opening win on Sunday.
Last term the 19-year-old was plagued by injury but after being named as player of the tournament in the Peace Cup in Korea and scoring on Sunday, he now hopes to carve out a regular place for himself in the first team.
"I don't want to experience the same the same trouble as I did last season," Benzema told L'Equipe.
"Now I know my body. I take care with what I eat, take some rest, I drink a lot of water and I have naps.
"I can also feel that I have improved, both in speed and in the air. I just hope to go on improving.
"It is clear that I am happy to play in my real position (centre forward) this season.
"Of course, with Fred's injury I have more opportunities to play matches, and now I am ready for that."
Meanwhile, goalkeeper Gregory Coupet has undergone surgery on his broken knee ligaments and is expected to be on the sidelines for four months.
Lyon's special advisor Bernard Lacombe has also revealed that Sylvain Wiltord won't be joining Paris St Germain or Rennes after failing to reach an agreement with both clubs.
The French international, who was pushing for a transfer, will stay at Stade Gerland.
"We met him on Friday" Lacombe told Football365. "We told him he will stay. Anyway, he was only interested in joining one club, Paris. Even if he had contact with Rennes.
"He is with us and we are happy with that. I think he is happy too. He still wants to play for Paris but for the moment he is under contract with OL."
