PSV Eindhoven have swooped for Jeremie Brechet on a three-year deal from Sochaux.
The versatile defender had been Sochaux's captain but he was out of contract this summer and has decided to move on for a fresh challenge.
The former Lyon and Internazionale player is now looking forward to lining up for his new side in the UEFA Champions League.
He told PSV's official website: "This is a fantastic club which is also a big name in Europe.
"I wanted to come and play here. The club directly made a good impression on me.
"The high level, the stadium, I am looking forward to starting here."
