West Ham midfielder Julien Faubert has admitted that he would welcome the opportunity to join Lyon.
The Ligue 1 giants are believed to have opened discussions with the Hammers in regards to the 25-year-old's availability.
Having struggled to make an impact at Upton Park following his 2007 switch from Bordeaux, Faubert is taken by the idea of a return to his homeland.
He also believes that a move back to France will help to enhance his international prospects.
"I am crossing my fingers - the two clubs are in talks," the one-time France cap told Aujourd'hui Sport.
"Lyon would really be great. I would rediscover Ligue 1 and France but also the Champions League and the eyes of the national team coach. Because my aim still remains the 2010 World Cup.
"I really hope this is going to sort itself out."
Lyon are reported to favour a six-month loan deal; keen to bring Faubert in to help plug their problematic right-back spot.
The fact that he can also operate on the right of midfield would also come as a bonus to Claude Puel, with Sidney Govou having been ruled out for the rest of the season by injury.
