Marseille defender hopes to be playing in Premier League

Marseille defender Taye Taiwo has stated that he wants to play in the Premier League next season. The news is likely to alert Manchester City and Everton, both of whom were recently linked with a move for the player, according to reports in France. With the winter transfer window now firmly shut any move would have to wait until the summer with the Nigerian international set to cost around £11.5million. The left-back shone against Liverpool during the group stages of the UEFA Champions League this season but critics have claimed that his tactical acumen at times lets him down. "Everyone knows I would like to play for an English club next season," he admitted. "The chairman knows it too. I can't name clubs in the press. "I am still focused on L'OM so far, but I would like to try something new. At first, I would like to win a title with L'OM before leaving." Marseille are likely to put up a fight for their player with his contract not expiring until 2011.
