Souleymane Diawara has admitted that he is tempted to leave Bordeaux this summer and join Marseille.
The Senegalese defender enjoyed a stand-out 2008/09 campaign, helping Laurent Blanc's side to the Ligue 1 title.
He had hoped to see his efforts rewarded with a new deal, but has seen discussions regarding new terms hit a snag.
With Marseille now expressing an interest in his services, and offering more money, Diawara admits his head has been turned.
"When I joined Bordeaux I accepted reduced wages because it was not essential to me," the African ace told
Aujourd'hui Sport.
"I gave my best on the pitch and I believe in my two years here I have never cheated, I have always given my best, and I deserve to get a reward.
Proposition
"I know Marseille are now interested, my agent has told me.
"However, I believe they are yet to make an approach to Bordeaux. As long as they have not made an offer, we can't say it is serious.
"Marseille officials have met with my agent, though, and made a nice proposition. Today I feel that Marseille have more desire to sign me than Bordeaux. I am a little disappointed.
"The financial aspect is now important, I won't lie. I am 30-years-old. It is not the priority, but obviously you have to think about it.
"I am not asking for Bordeaux to offer the same as Marseille, I know their budget is not the same, but a little effort would be nice."
