Lyon defender Cris has hinted he may no longer finish his career at Stade Gerland.
The 32-year-old Brazilian, who has spent the past five years with the club, had intended to quit playing football with the former French champions.
However, he is now having thoughts of experiencing a new league and claims the Premier League or Serie A are destinations of interest.
Cris accepts he will likely see out the remaining two years of his Lyon contract, but admits anything can happen in football.
"I've always said I love Lyon and that I'd like to finish my career here," he told France Football.
"Even though I have two years remaining on my contract I won't say I am sure to remain at l'OL in coming years, months or even weeks.
"I am quite interested with the idea of discovering a new league. I will think about it. I would prefer a competitive league, like Italy or England.
"I would like to go on playing two or three more years at Lyon, but in football everything can change in a few minutes or hours.
"Juninho could have stayed one more season here at high level. But sometimes, you have to know when you have to leave, even if it is painful."
Meanwhile, Lyon have not given up hope of re-signing Loic Remy and are believed to be close to finalising a €16million deal.
Nice chairman Maurice Cohen and sporting director Eric Roy were desperate to keep Remy, however Lyon's offer was too good to refuse.
