Valenciennes winger Johan Audel says he would be content to stay at the club, but would still rather play his football elsewhere.
Audel has made his desire to leave the French outfit well known in the past and the midfield star still harbours a move to a bigger club, with Monaco linked to the star.
But he says remaining at the Stade Nungesser still remains a viable option as he would not cause problem for manager Philippe Montanier if no transfer materialises.
The former Nice player told
L'Equipe: "I still have my wish to leave. I thought the dust would settle faster but none of the contacts I had led anywhere.
"I repeat what I said in May - I have spent my time in Valenciennes and I think the time is right to leave. The rest is not down to me.
"I have cravings elsewhere but it will not be a disappointment to stay. Until I leave, I am at Valenciennois. If my situation resolves itself, so much the better - if not, I will stay here with no worries. The club is ambitious, it will be fine."
Audel will continue to explore his transfer options after he revealed clubs in England were interested in securing his signature.
Monaco have proved to be the primary name linked to the 26-year-old as manager Guy Lacombe registered an interest in the winter transfer window.
And Audel says a switch to Les Monegasques would provide an attractive option as it is close to the Nice region of his birth where he began his career.
No bid materialised in January but Audel says a deal could be possible as circumstances have changed - although a Premier League move could also be on the cards for the former Lille player should Valenciennes receive the right fee.
On the interest from Monaco, he added: "This winter, they showed an interest but at that time, during the season, I did not want to leave Valenciennes. This time, the situation is different.
"Being originally from Nice, I often went to see Monaco when I was young. I know the club by heart and I know that Guy Lacombe has done a good job there.
"I have discussed it with my father. The prospect of going there is attractive. Monaco are an attractive club. English clubs have also shown an interest, but nothing concrete. Even though I think I am good enough to play in that league, I am only 26.
"I have time. I know there have been enquiries, but until somebody puts the money on the table which Valenciennes want, all I can say is that there are clubs which strongly interest me."
