Brazilian full-back on the mend following knee operation

Lyon boss Claude Puel has confirmed that Michel Bastos has undergone a successful knee operation. The Brazil international picked up the knock in a recent 2-0 victory over Sochaux and it quickly became apparent that he would require surgery. It was decided that he would be allowed to return home for medical assistance, with renowned specialist Edilson Thiele scheduled to carry out the procedure. Bastos has now been under the knife and Lyon are happy that the problem has been resolved. Puel believes the full-back could be back in contention for a first-team recall before the end of the season. He said: "The surgery went smoothly and he has already started his rehabilitation. "He will work on his recovery for four to five weeks and then he should be available again." Lyon have also revealed that Argentine playmaker Cesar Delgado is poised for a return to action after shaking off a groin complaint.
