Steve Marlet, who has been the subject of transfer speculation this week, showed why Fulham are so interested in him when he scored Lyon's opening goal on the stroke of half time, before Christophe Delmotte sealed the win for Jacques Santini's side a minute before the end to put L'OL top of the league from Lens on goals scored.
Auxerre kept in touch in third place when they came from a goal down at Parc Lescure to earn a 1-1 draw against Bordeaux.
Portuguese star Pauleta opened the scoring for the home side after 25 minutes but Yann Lachuer grabbed a share of the points for Guy Roux's side with a 65th minute strike.
Guingamp secured an impressive win over last year's Championnat title winners thanks to a Stephane Carnot goal just after the half-hour. The result leaves The Canaries rock bottom of the league table after collecting just one point from five games.
Paris Saint Germain had an impressive 3-0 win over Rennes in Parc des Princes, with Jay Jay Okocha (61), Bernard Mendy (79) and Aloisio (86) grabbing the goals for Luis Fernandez's men.
Didier Deschamps' Monaco continued their dismal start to the season by suffering a 2-0 away defeat at the hands of newly-promoted Lorient. Goals from Luc Druon and Jean Claude Darcheville handed The Principality side their third defeat of the season and leaves them still chasing their first win.
Marseille are also still looking for their first win of the season after a Beneforti goal gave Bastia a 1-0 win in Corsica, while Sedan did manage to get their first win under their belts with goals from Toni Brogno and Camara earning a 2-0 win over Metz.
In the other game of the day, Montpellier played out a 0-0 draw with Sochaux.
