Lyon goalkeeper Gregory Coupet has claimed that he has signed a one-year extension to his contract at Stade Gerland.
The new deal will keep the French international at Lyon until the summer of 2007 with the option to become the club's goalkeeping coach when he hangs up his gloves.
Coupet was close to leaving the French champions last summer after prolonged contract negotiations, but now he is ready to end his career at the club.
"It was settled on Tuesday night," said Coupet. "I had a contract until June 2006 and I have signed for one more year."
Coupet's decision to extend his stay could see reserve goalkeeper Remi Vercoutre leave as he was hoping to take over from Coupet as the first choice for Lyon.
Meanwhile, out-of-favour Lyon midfielder Eric Carriere is also reported to be considering his future at the club.
The 30-year-old has rarely featured this season and has been forced to kick his heels on the sidelines.
Marseille, Bordeaux and Lens are all thought to be monitoring his situation and could be ready to offer Carriere a route out of Lyon.
