The French international has been a frustrated figure at Lyon this season spending much of his time on the bench.
Carriere had opportunities to leave Lyon on loan during the January transfer window, but he decided to stay on at the French champions and help them in their pursuit of Le Championnat and UEFA Champions League.
The 30-year-old, who turned down a move to Celta Vigo, admitted he is keen to be playing first team football and he will assess his options in the summer.
"During the winter transfer window, if I had a great opportunity, I would have probably studied it seriously," Carriere told France Football.
"But I didn't want to go just to leave, because there are exciting aims here until the end of the season.
"To tell you the truth, I had contacts for loans. But considering my young daughters, I was not interested.
"Celta Vigo proposed me a loan, but I refused. But perhaps they will contact me again next summer. About Marseille and Bordeaux, I didn't have any contact.
"I prefer to be first-team member in a club that doesn't' necessarily have to play in the Champions League.
"If nothing comes in June, it won't be too serious, as I still have one year of my contract at Lyon. But if there are opportunities, I will be attentive."
