Lille kept their dim title hopes alive with a tremendous 8-0 crushing of Istres.Lille emphatically announced that their distant hopes of securing the Ligue 1 title are still alive by recording a magnificent 8-0 win over Istres.
The match witnessed a four-goal salvo from striker Matt Moussilou but, most remarkably of all, three of those came within three first half minutes in what must go down as one of the fastest hat-tricks ever recorded.
Moussilou (pictured) struck on 14, 16 and 17 minutes in a mesmerising spell, before Mathieu Bodmer carried on the rout with a fourth just four minutes later.
However Lyon refused to cede ground in the title race as they ground out a 1-0 win at home to Lens.

Didier Deschamps' side were overturned by three first half strikes as they dropped to third in the table, and Ajaccio climbed out of the drop zone thanks to a brace from Marcelo Edson and a further strike from Moreira Andre Luis.
In the early kick-off Auxerre scored a late winner to maintain their challenge for the European spots with a 2-1 win over Nantes.
The away side looked to be heading for victory after Mamadou Diallo struck after 51 minutes, although Auxerre struck back through Younes Kaboul before Luigi Pieroni settled the tie in injury time.
To cap a bad day for Nantes the 15th placed side saw two players dismissed in the last five minutes, as Nicolas Savinaud and Emerse Fae received their marching orders.
Toulouse also kept pace as they stayed in sixth after a good 1-0 win at Metz.
The visitors claimed the three points at Stade Saint-Symphorien with a 36 minute strike from midfielder Francois Sirieix.
Sochaux remain one point behind Toulouse after a 62nd minute strike from Brazilian striker Ilan saw them edge out Caen 1-0 at home.
Strasbourg pulled away from the relegation zone after a good 2-0 win at Bordeaux.
The away side hit the hosts with a hammer blow after claiming two goals in three minutes from Yacine Abdessadki and Mamadou Niang, before Bordeaux's Cyril Rool saw red with six minutes to go for a second bookable offence.
Rennes condemned strugglers Bastia to further misery as they capped a 1-0 home victory with a goal from Rangers target and Swedish international Kim Kallstrom.
Nice recorded a credible 2-0 win over top half side St. Etienne thanks to two first half goals.
