l'OM eye Figo

Marseille are reported to have made an approach for Luis Figo.

l'OM endured a disappointing campaign last season, finishing outside the European spots in Ligue 1 meaning they have now entered the much-maligned InterToto Cup to try and secure a Uefa Cup place.

Having sacked Phillipe Troussier earlier this month, Marseille are wasting little time in identifying possible transfer targets - despite being coachless.

Marseille are selling Benoit Pedretti to champions Lyon and that could help fund a possible move for Figo - who looks set to leave Real Madrid this summer.

Lyon have moved for Pedretti who has a release clause in his contract which allows him to leave for ‚é¼6 million.

Now the French international is set to depart after just one season at The Stade Velodrome.

"As soon as Lyon called Benoit, I told the Marseille officials, who gave me the agreement to start talks," Pedretti's agent Jean-Pierre Bernes explained.

"We are in discussion over a four-year contract.

"Benoit chose Marseille one year ago, hoping for Champions League qualification. Lyon offers him that possibility and of course it is an attractive proposition."

Marseille are also closing in on Sochaux star Wilson Oruma and expect to seal his arrival in the next few days.
