Switzerland defender Patrick Muller has completed his transfer to Lyon.The Basel star, who played for the Ligue One side from 2000 to 2004, has returned to the club for a fee of ‚é¼3 million (£2.1 million) - more than originally expected.
The 29-year-old has signed a two-and-a-half year contract, and will immediately come into the reckoning for a place in the weekend game against Monaco.
"Patrick was our number one priority for the winter transfer window," said Lyon coach Gerard Houllier.
The in-form side will be delighted to land a defender, with Eric Abidal, Jeremy Berthod, Anthony Reveillere and Claudio Cacapa all currently sidelined with injuries.
