Bordeaux claimed a decisive victory in the race for the UEFA Champions League.
Bordeaux claimed a decisive victory in the race for the second UEFA Champions League spot in Ligue 1 with a 3-0 win over Sochaux.
Starting the day three points clear of rivals Lille, Les Girondins extended their advantage to six with just three games to go in the French season.
Julien Faubert opened the scoring with a 19th minute strike, before David Jemmali (27) added a second before the break.
Striker Jean-Claude Darcheville topped the win 11 minutes after half time to leave Bordeaux in firm control in the race for Europe.
Champions Lyon lost their third match of the season to allow Monaco to move into the top half of the table after a 2-1 victory for the Principality.
Gerard Houllier's side may have the title sewn up but they will no doubt be disappointed to have lost out to goals from strikers Ernesto Chevanton (33) and Marco Di Vaio (58) as they remain one point behind the record tally for Ligue 1.
However Danish hit-man John Carew scored an injury time consolation for France's dominant power in the game that leaves Monaco seven points shy of fourth placed Rennes with three games to play.
