Lyon front man John Carew is going nowhere, according to the club's sporting director Bernard Lacombe.
The towering Norwegian has been the subject of much transfer speculation linking him with a move away from the Stade Gerland.
But Lacombe has confirmed the Ligue 1 side's desire to keep the £5 million-rated 27-year-old, after a disappointing first season with the club.
"John made a very good start, a lot of people have forgotten that. We invested a lot of money to transfer him," Lacombe told Le Progres.
"He plays well with us, but he just hasn't finished the season fantastically.
"People say John will go to Marseille, Monaco, Toulouse, Porto, but we haven't received any offers.
"We will not sell him off. A striker has to be confident, so he has to play."
The director also took time to praise the rest of Gerard Houllier's forward line, including young strikers Fred, 22, and 18-year-old Karim Benzema.
"Fred is young and talented, he cost us a lot, Carew is here and Benzema is the most promising French striker," Lacombe continued.
"Fred, Carew, Benzema, that is very good! We also have Sylvain Wiltord."
The Ligue 1 champions scored 73 goals in 38 games as they cruised to the title last season, and they will be hoping for a repeat performance in the coming campaign.
