Sevilla consider Govou

Sevilla could turn to Sidney Govou in their quest for attacking reinforcements.

Sevilla could turn to Premiership target Sidney Govou in their quest for attacking reinforcements.

The Uefa Cup holders are keen to bring in a new forward during the summer and had been sweet on David Suazo.

But reaching a deal with Suazo's Italian club Cagliari has proved problematic and a change in targets has now taken place.

Govou is likely to leave Lyon before the transfer deadline, although the French champions have set his value at £7 million.

That figure is unlikely to be beyond Sevilla's reach, with reports in Spain suggesting a bid is being put together.

Sevilla's Liga rivals Valencia have been cast as admirers of Govou, while his former Lyon coach Paul Le Guen - now at Rangers - remains a fan.

In The Premiership, Blackburn Rovers, Bolton Wanderers, Fulham, Manchester City and Middlesbrough have all been linked with the France international.
