Kallstrom's delight at debut

Swedish star Kim Kallstrom was happy with his victorious debut for French champions Lyon.

Swedish star Kim Kallstrom was delighted with his victorious debut for French champions Lyon at the weekend.

Boss Gerard Houllier rested nine of his key men for the trip to Nantes, playing a virtual second string of stars at the Stade de la Beaujoire.

But Lyon managed to come back to win 3-1 despite falling behind after just four minutes, and the 23-year-old former Rennes man has paid tribute to his new team-mates for stamping their authority on the game in the later stages.

"Personally, I am truly pleased with my display," Kallstrom told Sportbladet.

"It was a classic match between a top side and a somewhat worse team who threw everything forward in the first half.

"Then in the second half, they started falling back and we took over slowly but steadily. At the end, they couldn't stand up.

"The squad is truly fantastic. We have got two top sides, but we shall win a lot and need many players."

Lyon play their next match at home to Toulouse, and Kallstrom will be hoping to continue to impress his coach ahead of the visit of Elie Baup's men on Saturday.
