Coupet backing for Dhorasoo

France keeper Gregory Coupet has backed Vikash Dhorasoo in his feud with PSG.

France goalkeeper Gregory Coupet has backed Vikash Dhorasoo in his feud with employers Paris Saint Germain.

The pair have been team-mates at both club and international level in the past, but the midfielder's future in France has been jeopardised by his public criticism of coach Guy Lacombe.

Dhorasoo was suspended by the club ahead of a formal meeting with the club's chairman on Monday.

While his fate is still yet to be decided, the Lyon number one has backed his old Stade Gerland colleague.

"I don't wish him any ills," Coupet told AFP.

"Vikash's actual situation could be a world precedent if he was axed, but I hope it won't be.

"The most important thing is what has been said during the meeting with chairman Alain Cayzac.

"I have had a couple of problems with Vikash, but when he came back to Lyon from a loan spell at Bordeaux everything was okay between us.

"When men talk directly, eye to eye, things improve and then people can move on."

Speculation in France meanwhile suggests that PSG are already seeking a new midfield replacement.

Dhorasoo could therefore be ready to listen to offers from England, with Bolton Wanderers having been linked with the Bleus star last summer.
