Gregory Coupet is out of Lyon's UEFA Champions League game in Kiev on Tuesday.
French champions Lyon have been hit with the news goalkeeper Gregory Coupet has ruled himself out of their next UEFA Champions League game after damaging his hand.
The France international needed six stitches to treat what was a domestic accident, that has come at just the wrong time, given the fact Lyon face Dynamo Kiev on Tuesday.
Coupet will also be sidelined for Lyon's game against St Etienne on Saturday, with Swiss defender Patrick Muller another absentee with a right shoulder injury.
"He had six stitches and will not be available for at least ten days," read a statement on the club's official website.
Brighter news for Lyon is that striker Sidney Govou and defender Eric Abidal have both been passed fit for what looks to be a tough trip to Kiev.
Govou missed the last round of international fixtures with an ankle injury, while Abidal suffered a bruised thigh against Scotland and was forced to miss France's game against Faroe Islands at the weekend.
Lyon doctor Jean-Jacques Amprino has given the green light to both players after rigorous medical tests.
