Lyon in talks with trio

Jean-Michel Aulas is in discussions with a trio of key players about their futures at Lyon.

Lyon chairman Jean-Michel Aulas has revealed he is in discussions with a trio of key players about their futures at the Stade Gerland.

Juninho (pictured), Claudio Cacapa and Anthony Reveillere are all in talks about extensions to their current deals with the French champions.

"I met Juninho to talk about his future. I also met Claudio Cacapa about his future," Aulas confirmed in L'Equipe.

"Juninho had a contract until 2008 with an option. We have just used the option to extend until 2009. He said he would like to stay until 2010. I told him we will reply before the end of February.

"So we are also in talks with Claudio. We confirmed him to stay until 2008.

"But he wants to be able to leave in June for free if he wants at that time. I agreed but I want a definitive answer before March 31.

"Anthony Reveillere is in negotiations to prolong until 2011. We are close to an agreement."

Meanwhile, contrary to reports, Aulas has insisted he wants Gerard Houllier to remain as Lyon coach beyond the end of the season.

He added: "Do I believe Gerard Houllier will remain our coach next season? Yes. He is under contract until 2008.

"But it is not because I believe he will stay that means he won't get his freedom back. If he tells me: 'I don't want to work with you any more', no worries.

"But when you hire players he has absolutely wanted on three or four year contracts, we both know they don't come just for six months.

"Last summer, when we talked about the renewal of his contract, on a financial level I could never imagine him leaving. Why not prolong him?"
