Lyon's draw on Saturday evening had opened the door for the chasing pack, but PSG failed to take their chance as mid-table Lens put them to the sword.
Things started badly for the capital club as Olivier Thomert put Lens ahead on two minutes. Portuguese striker Pedro Pauleta restored parity on seven minutes with a neat lob.
Two goals from Aruna Dindane and Ferreyra Jussie took the game beyond PSG and Dindane rubbed salt into the wounds with a clinical finish on 68 minutes.
Pauleta grabbed his second of the game two minutes from time and Christophe Landrin scored in injury time, but Lens held on to claim victory at Parc Des Princes.
A goal three minutes into injury time saw basement boys Strasbourg slip to defeat at Nantes.
Strasbourg found themselves two up at the break through goals from Mickael Pagis and Amara Diane.
Pascal Delhommeau brought Nantes back into the game on 48 minutes, but Strasbourg looked on their way to three points when Pagis netted his second of the game barely 60 seconds later.
A Canaris fightback started on 55 minutes when Habib Bamogo hit the target and they were level on the hour courtesy of a finish from Milos Dimitrijevic.
The two sides seemed set to share the spoils when Frederic Da Rocha found space in the Strasbourg box deep into injury time to score the winner for Nantes.
Marseille made it three wins on the spin in all competitions when coming from behind to beat Monaco.
The Principality secured a first half advantage through Camel Meriem, but the Stade Velodrome faithful went home happy as goals on 64 and 75 minutes by Wilson Oruma and Sabri Lamouchi respectively sealed victory for the home side.
