Racing Strasbourg crashed out of the cup to French minnows Lyon-la-Duchere.
French Ligue 1 side Racing Strasbourg crashed out of the French cup on penalties to amateurs Lyon-la-Duchere in the pick of Tuesday's French Cup matches.
Both sides failed to score during 90 minutes and then extra time meaning the match had to go to penalties, and it was minnows Lyon-la-Duchere who triumphed 5-4 to knock out the 2001 winners.
In Tuesday's only all-Ligue 1 tie, Stade Rennes beat Racing Lens 1-0 thanks to an own goal by Lens defender Benoit Assou-Ekotto on 61 minutes.
New Bordeaux signing Beto was responsible for his side's progression into the next round, after a double strike from the Portugal defender saw off third division Entente Sannois-Saint-Gratien 2-1.
Nantes progressed at the expense of fourth division Bois-Guillaume. The Ligue 1 side recorded a 2-0 victory courtesy of an early goal by Julio Hernan Rossi and a late finish by fellow striker Mamadou Diallo.
The tie between second division Chateauroux and top-flight Sochaux was abandoned after 52 minutes due to thick fog with the game goalless. The game will now have to be replayed.
Paris St Germain host Auxerre in the highlight of Wednesday night's second round action.
