Lens have completed the signing of Gregory Vignal on a four-year contract.
Lens have completed the signing of former Portsmouth full back Gregory Vignal on a four-year contract.
Vignal was released by Pompey in April following just one season at Fratton Park, where he failed to impress manager Harry Redknapp.
The 24-year-old has fixed up a new club for next season and explained why he was happy to sign for Lens.
"I have signed for the duration of four years and it is a good thing because I needed stability," Vignal told the club's official website.
"I have been in England, Scotland, Spain, but that is good because I played for large clubs over there - Liverpool, Glasgow Rangers.
"A small adventure with Portsmouth began well, but finished a little badly."
Vignal has returned to France after six years away from his homeland and he feels the time was right to head back.
He added: "I think it is necessary to try things in life and I experienced things which certain players will not know.
"I am 24-years-old and I think that it is the moment to pack my bags for a large French club and to be able to do something very well."
