Lens and Odense moved top of Group D alongside Parma after recording victories.
Lens moved joint top of Group D after beating Osasuna 3-1 in their first game of the Uefa Cup group stage.
With Odense joining Parma on three points after beating Heerenveen, the French outfit made it a triumvirate of sides at the summit with a good home win against their Spanish opponents.
Ivorian striker Aruna Dindane got Lens off to a flyer when he drilled home from the edge of the box after quarter of an hour.
Valdo equalised for Osasuna just 60 seconds after half time, but Dindane helped Lens regain their superiority when he was fouled in the box - allowing Daniel Cousin to score from the penalty spot on 69 minutes.
In the final stages Francis Gillot's side made sure of the three points when Razak Boukhari added a third with eight minutes to go.
Odense BK sprung a surprise in Group D as they beat Heerenveen 2-0 in Holland.
The Danish side knocked out Hertha Berlin in qualifying for the group stages of the Uefa Cup, and after almost shocking Parma in their opening game Bruce Rioch's side moved joint top of the group with the Italians and Lens following a fine win at Abe Lenstra.
Rajko Lekic orchestrated the victory, ending his European duck in impressive style with a brace against Gertjan Verbeek's Eredivisie outfit.
Lekic grabbed his first on the stroke of half time, volleying home from Ulrik Laursen's cross.
The striker then had to wait until the hour mark for his second as he fired home after getting on the end of a free-kick from Oliveira Bechara to leave Heerenveen with just one point from two games.
