Lyon seized the initiative in the race for second place in Ligue 1 with a 2-0 win over Nantes on Saturday.

With Paris Saint-Germain already confirmed as champions, Lyon are locked in a battle for the runners-up spot with Monaco and Marseille.

And goals in either half from Memphis Depay and Bertrand Traore sent Bruno Genesio's men into second, with Monaco held to a disappointing 0-0 draw by Amiens.

That means Lyon are a point ahead of Monaco with three games to play.

Depay opened the scoring in fine style as he lashed home from 20 yards six minutes before the break and the former Manchester United man made the second midway through the second half when his surging run allowed Traore to sweep home.

Monaco laboured at home to mid-table Amiens, with Radamel Falcao, Almamy Toure and Joao Moutinho going closest.

Both sides ended with 10 men as Adama Diakhaby and Prince-Desir Gouano saw red at the death after an altercation.

Ivan Santini gave Caen an early lead but it was short-lived as Remy Vercoutre put through his own net to level things up after only seven minutes.
