The 20-year-old stopper played in the lower leagues last season after not impressing Baup enough but he is now back and looking good.
After becoming a key member of the reserve side at Parc Lescure, Planus is now set to make the step-up to first team level.
Although he has made several substitute appearances for Baup, the boss is showing great faith in him by handing him a starting berth for their European clash with the Belgian side.
"Marc radiates intelligence," said Baup. "You can see straight away he won't follow a forward to give him blows all through the day.
"He is not either the kind of prototype tall defender that emerges today. He is almost an old-style sweeper."
Planus recognises that he has benefited from injuries to the side this season but is happy that things have turned around so quickly for him.
"Even if I know I take advantage of the several injures, it is exciting for a young player like me to play against Anderlecht, who remain all the same a great European club," said the youngster.
"Since the signature of my contract, everything has gone very quickly for me.
"When you are young, everyone knows it is very difficult to make a name for yourself here. It is the rule."
