Rame hoping to bounce back

BORDEAUX goalkeeper Ulrich Rame admitted he made a huge blunder during France's defeat against Czech Republic last Wednesday, but has not given up on his international future.

Rame was at fault for the opening goal and has not been able to get away from the mistake since.

Despite being gutted at messing up on his big chance to impress boss Jacques Santini, Rame still believes he has a chance to make the squad for Euro 2004.

"On an individual level, it was not a good night," admitted Rame.

"I ended the match frustrated due to defeat, and on a personal level because I messed up on that goal.

"I know it is above all very important on a media point of view.

"A forward who will miss a goal impossible to miss, is not so much noted, we forget it more easily. For a keeper, the mistake is increased tenfold.

"This one will remain engraved, but I have to bounce back again quickly.

"If I have to pay I will pay, the only thing is to work. I am only interested in playing well for the rest of the season.

"You can miss a match, it can happen. I knew very well I was called into the French team just because Fabien Barthez and Gregory Coupet were injured.

"Now for Euro 2004, there are still 11 Le Championnat matches to play and a whole other season."
