The Spanish side had offered the France international a three-year contract to swap Ligue 1 for La Liga.
Rame spent the weekend considering the offer but has opted to spurn the switch due to family reasons.
The experienced shot-stopper is now tipped to stay with Bordeaux, where he has a contract until 2007.
Though he has a further three years to run on his present deal, he had negotiated an arrangement with Les Girondins to facilitate his departure.
After missing out on Rame, Espanyol could turn their attention to Paris Saint Germain keeper Lionel Letizi.
He has rejected a two-year extension at Parc des Princes and was a leading candidate to replace Rame at Bordeaux, if he had accepted the Espanyol challenge.
