Bordeaux keen for Meriem stay

Bordeaux coach Michel Pavon wants Camel Meriem to stay with the club, following his year-long loan spell with Marseille.

L'OM were keen to land the right-sided midfielder at the start of the summer, but were deterred by Bordeaux's ‚é¼7 million asking price.

However, following the big-money sale of star striker Didier Drogba to Chelsea, cash is no longer an issue for Jose Anigo's side.

Despite Marseille ready to make an offer for the in-demand star, Pavon is keen to retain Meriem's services and is planning next season with him in his side.

"I don't want him to leave," explained Pavon said to L'Equipe. "It was settled from the start.

"When we talked about staying, we agreed. I'm counting on him. We won't change our minds now."
