Metz moved top of Ligue 1 after a superb 3-1 win at high-flying Marseille.Metz continued their excellent start to the campaign by inflicting a 3-1 home defeat on Marseille to move top of Ligue 1.
Former Basel striker Herve Tum (pictured) was the hero for Metz, grabbing a brace to set up victory.
Tum opened the scoring on 12 minutes but saw his effort cancelled out by Peguy Luyindula, however, two goals in the final two minutes from Franck Signorino and then Tum settled matters.
Bordeaux beat Sochaux 2-0 thanks to goals in either half from Cyril Rool and Lilian Laslandes.
Rool opened the scoring seven minutes before the break with a neat strike for his first of the season.
Sochaux battled well and had chances to get back into the game, but their hopes were dashed four minutes from time when ex-Sunderland hit-man Laslandes converted a dubious penalty.
It was Bordeaux's second successive win after taking only one point from their opening two games of the season.
Lyon mainatianed their unbeaten start with a narrow 1-0 win over Lille, an early Pierre-Alain Frau proving enough for the reigning champions.
Monaco claimed a point from their trip to Lens with former Internazionale striker Mohammed Kallon netting in a 1-1 draw.
Kallon put Didier Deschamps's men ahead after seven minutes, but Nicolas Gillet restored parity four minutes before the break.
Auxerre left it late but took maximum points from their home clash with Caen, Lionel Mathis firing home the winner in the final minute.
Toulouse also preserved their unbeaten start with a 2-2 draw at Nantes, but will be slightly disappointed not to have taken all three points.
Toulouse twice led through a Julio Caceres own goal, and then from Francois Sirieix after Mamadou Bagayoko's equaliser, but were denied by a late Nicolas Savinaud effort.
Ajaccio earned their first point of the campaign with a 1-1 draw at home to Rennes with Marcelino cancelling out an early Alexander Frei strike.
Strasbourg and Istres also played out a 1-1 draw with Moussa N'Diaye (47) grabbing an equaliser for Istres after Mickael Pagis's opener (16).
