Bordeaux's Marouane Chamakh and Rio Mavuba have signed contract extensions.Bordeaux's exciting duo Marouane Chamakh and Rio Mavuba have signed contract extensions.
Les Girondins have persuaded the highly-rated pair to prolong their association with the club until the summer of 2009.
Their previous deals had been due to expire in 2007, although there are suggestions the extending of the contracts will facilitate an easier exit from the club.
Chamakh, who has been linked with Paris Saint Germain, and Mavuba have been in sparkling form this season after establishing themselves as fixtures in the team last term.
Morocco international striker Chamakh has netted five goals in ten appearances, while midfielder Mavuba made his debut for France in August.
Bordeaux chairman Jean-Louis Triaud had no qualms in handing the 20-year-olds revised terms due to their contribution to the team.
"Rio and Marouane will be with us for a long time," said Triaud. "There is a mutual respect.
"They are sane boys. Bordeaux has bet on young players, no-one can argue against that.
"Those players will get a wage increase and it is logical considering what they have achieved in the last few months."
