Caen striker Sebastian Mazure is keen to join St Etienne after suffering relegation. After an impressive first season back in the top flight St Etienne have received a further boost with the news that Caen striker Sebastian Mazure is keen to join the club.
Despite seeing his side relegated from Ligue 1, Mazure enjoyed a personally productive year as he netted 13 league goals.
The 26-year-old is now expected to sign a four-year contract at Stade Geoffrey-Guichard in the next week, although the two clubs must still concur on a transfer fee.
With one year remaining on his current deal it is expected that Caen would be tempted by a fee in the region of é¼1 million, and ASSE supremo Bernard Caiazzo has confirmed that the player is keen to make the move.
"He made his decision, he wants to join us," said Caiazzo.
"We just have to negotiate the fee with our Caen counterparts."
In other news St Etienne have also extended the deal of in-demand defender Didier Zokora, as the Ivory Coast ace has penned a new contract until 2009.
Monaco had confirmed an interest in the 24-year-old, although after being offered a pay rise the player has decided to stay with ASSE and not risk his chances of making the 2006 World Cup.
Zokora joins Frederic Piquionne and Pascal Feindouno in pledging his future to the side, as the duo extended their stays after loan deals from Rennes and Bordeaux respectively.
One face who could also be joining the ranks at Stade Geoffrey-Guichard is stopper Wissem Abdi, who currently plies his trade for Sfax in Tunisia, although a host of other Ligue 1 clubs are believed to be watching the youngster.
