Mavuba sets sights on glory

Rio Mavuba has set his sights on winning the European Under- 21 Championship.

France Under-21 captain Rio Mavuba has set his sights on winning the European Under-21 Championship on home soil.

The Bordeaux star had hoped to make the French squad for the World Cup finals in Germany but there is no questioning his dedication to the Under-21 cause.

"We have a very good squad, with very talented players," the midfield starlet told Sud Ouest.

 "We have a mix of experience and raw talent in our squad and, with this, I hope we can win.

"Of course, I dreamed about going to Germany, but I have to stary here.

"This season has been difficult for me, I have sat on the bench for most of it, so I knew It would be difficult for me.

"My aim now is to to try and help the Under-21 team win the European Championship."

With his reputation growing, you would expect interest to follow Mavuba, however, the youngster is adamant on where his future lies.

"I hope I will stay at Bordeaux  next season, I want to stay and play Champions League football with my club," he stated.

"I haven't received any offers from other club."

"I could stay here all my career, if we played Champions League every season."
