New Rennes midfielder Bruno Cheyrou has slammed Bordeaux officials, after completing his permanent move to the Stade de la Route-de Lorient.
The 28-year-old Frenchman helped Les Girondins to second in Ligue 1 while on loan at the club last season, securing UEFA Champions League football for the coming season.
But despite his best efforts, the Stade Chaban-Delmas outfit pulled out of the race to sign him from Liverpool, and Rennes stepped in.
The club's finances were rumoured to be the reason for the lack of a Bordeaux deal, but Cheyrou has been left angry at the situation.
"I am very happy to be at Rennes, but I am a little disappointed by Les Girondins officials and not to be playing in the Champions League," Cheyrou explained.
"I have more respect towards Bordeaux than the respect they have towards me.
"It seems the coach wanted to keep me. But there was a flaw, and I don't know what it was. I did everything to stay.
"I could not have done any more without belittling myself too much."
Meanwhile, Rennes are also in pursuit of a Strasbourg centre back Karim Hagui.
The 24-year-old Tunisian international is keen to leave the relegated side, despite being contracted to the Stade de la Meinau until 2008.
Brittany are leading the chase for his signature, but Rennes have reportedly launched a late coup.
