Johan Micoud has held clear-the-air talks with Bordeaux coach Ricardo.
Johan Micoud has held clear-the-air talks with coach Ricardo and is happy to pledge his future to Bordeaux.
The gifted midfielder made the move to Les Girondins from Werder Bremen in the summer, but his first four months in Bordeaux have been dogged by controversy.
He is reported to have clashed with his team-mates and his coach over Bordeaux's playing style and it had been suggested he would head away from the club in the January transfer window.
Things came to a head after the defeat to PSV Eindhoven at the end of September and following a meeting with Ricardo, Micoud claims the atmosphere has improved at Stade Chaban-Delmas.
"After the game against PSV, my worst memory of the season, I asked to meet the coach," Micoud told L'Equipe. "I could not go on that way.
"Opening my heart and talking was a release to me. I had too many things inside of me. I feel better and it was also good for the coach. Ricardo has a more defensive spirit, mine is more attacking. The mix will be made."
Micoud claims he will not move on from Bordeaux in January, as he added: "When I commit myself it is until the end of the season. I won't leave Bordeaux.
"I am under contract until 2008. I will be 35-years-old at that time, maybe it will be time to stop."
