Auxerre beat Toulouse 3-2 at home to boost their prospects of European football.Auxerre boosted their prospects of European football next season with a thrilling 3-2 home victory over Toulouse.
The visitors had battled back from two goals down but succumbed to Benjamin Mwaruwari's second of the match on 73 minutes.
Guy Roux's Auxerre took the lead on 25 minutes when Jean-Sebastien Jaures lashed home a thunderbolt of a drive from the edge of the area.
Auxerre extended their advantage on 51 minutes when Mwaruwari grabbed his first of the contest by driving a shot across the goal after being teed up by Bonaventure Kalou.
But Toulouse rallied quickly and David Suarez brought the visitors back into the encounter on 56 minutes after finishing neatly after being played in by Stephane Dalmat.
Suarez levelled matters on 62 minutes with a fine header as Toulouse suddenly scented a victory which would have enabled them to leapfrog Auxerre in the table.
A superb save by Christophe Revault from Mwaruwari's shot kept Toulouse on level terms before the Zimbabwean snared the winner on 73 minutes.
Teemu Tainio's cross was initially missed by Mwaruwari but, when the ball rebounded off the post, he was the quickest to react to snaffle a vital goal for Auxerre.
