The 32-year-old will arrive at the Stade Velodrome to complete the formalities, after he agreed on the six-month stay in the South of France that could lead to a permanent switch.
"We have agreed a six-month contract. Now we are waiting for Dimas to arrive so we can conclude the final details," said l'OM sporting director Bernard Tapie.
The former Benfica, Juventus and Fenerbahce stopper will be a good addition to l'OM's squad as they try to launch a push towards a European place.
It is thought that Sporting are looking for someone to head in the opposite direction as part of the deal, but no player has been identified as yet.
Tapie is keen to bring new faces into the club and another loan arrival could be Nantes midfielder Wilfried Dalmat.
The younger brother of Stephane is not playing regularly with the reigning champions and Tapie could complete that move soon.
