Mido is unsettled in France, having failed to make the expected impact at Marseille and is being tipped to go through the Stade Velodrome exit door in the summer.
His agent has suggested a number of teams from England and Spain are looking at the forward, with reports claiming Atletico are leading the chase.
Mido is likely to take stock of his options in the summer, but he could well be headed for Atletico.
"He is a good player who has impressed us," Atletico director of sport Toni Munoz told planetfootball.com.
"He has experience of playing in Spain (with Celta Vigo), but everything has to be evaluated before a decision is made.
"Atletico are certainly interested in what decision he makes on his future, but nothing will distract us from our objective of securing Uefa Cup football."
