Marseille chairman Christophe Bouchet has denied rumours concerning a possible bid for Jon Dahl Tomasson and Samuel Eto'o.
The Uefa Cup finalists have been credited with an interest in a number of strikers as they look to find the perfect foil for the outstanding Didier Drogba.
Milan man Tomasson, who will play a key role for Denmark in Euro 2004, and Mallorca forward Eto'o, who helped destroy Real Madrid's title hopes at the weekend, were linked with transfers to l'OM but Sochaux midfielder Benoit Pedretti remains a more realistic target.
"At a certain time, Tomasson suited our means," said Bouchet.
"But now he plays regularly and we don't have the means to get a key player from those clubs.
"That also prevents our hopes for Eto'o.
"The most serious case is Benoit Pedretti. He is built for Marseille and can become Didier Deschamps's successor at l'OM."
