Marseille's Benoit Pedretti will be out for a month with a knee injury
Marseille's Benoit Pedretti is expected to be out of action for a month after suffering a knee injury in Saturday's home victory over Bastia.
An MRI scan on Monday revealed a meniscus problem, and the 23-year-old defensive midfielder is expected to undergo surgery on Tuesday.
And now Pedretti's enforced absence - together with the absence of the suspended Patrick Vieira - has given French national coach Raymond Domenech a midfield headache in the run-up to Les Bleus' World Cup qualifying clash with Republic of Ireland.
Pedretti, a summer arrival from Sochaux, reamined upbeat: "I have a good state of mind because I understood straight away what had happened.
"I had a miniscus problem in 1998 and the symptoms were the same. As there is no ligament rupture, it is fine."
He added: "I will come back better."
