The deadlock was broken when Antonio Cassano was brought down and the De Rossi was on hand to head home the resultant free kick.
The second half brought more pressure from Fiorentina, but they could not get an equaliser, and will now look to overcome the deficit in Florence.

Massimo Ambrosini headed the home side into lead before David Di Michele levelled matters for Udinese.
Di Michele then put the visitors into lead just before the break when he took advantage of a defensive lapse from Milan defender Fabricio Coloccini to make it 2-1.
Ambrosini brought the Rossoneri level in the second half with a header from Serginho's cross to make it 2-2.
Milan would take a one-goal lead into the second leg when Serginho curled a fine free kick past Udinese goalkeeper Morgan De Sanctis for a 3-2 final score.
