The Russian giants had secured just one point from their opening two group games and needed a victory against the Bulgarian outfit.
Following a scoreless first half, Brazilian striker Love broke the deadlock after the interval much to the relief of the home faithful with a right-footed shot.
Love secured the win with a low drive from 12 yards out, although the visitors made it a tense finish when they pulled one back in injury time.
Valeri Domovchiyski connected with Igor Tomasic's ball from the right before lashing a home past Igor Akinfeev, although it proved nothing more than a consolation.
Ligue 1 outfit Marseille left it late before netting a 1-0 win over Heerenveen.
The game was largely uneventful until Mamadou Niang was felled in the penalty area in the closing stages by keeper Brian Vandenbussche.
A spot kick was awarded and Taye Taiwo claimed the points with a well-struck penalty into Vendenbussche's left hand corner.
