Marseille bag Zubar

Ronald Zubar has completed his move to Ligue 1 outfit Marseille from Caen.

French under-21 international Ronald Zubar has completed his move to Ligue 1 outfit Marseille from Caen.

The 20-year-old was linked with moves to Chelsea and Bordeaux but opted for a switch to the Stade Velodrome after speaking with l'OM chairman Pape Diouf.

Marseille are yet to appoint a new coach following Jean Fernandez's departure but Zubar becomes their fourth signing already this summer.

"Ronald Zubar is still under contract with Stade Malherbe de Caen until June 30. SM Caen, Ronald Zubar and Olympique de Marseille have found an agreement, he will join Marseille on July 1," a spokesman confirmed on the club's official website.

Meanwhile, one of the club's other summer signings, Mathieu Valbuena, has spoken of his delight at the move to the French giants.

The starlet joined l'OM from Libourne St Seurin and admits the move is a dream come true.

"I had some opportunities in Ligue 1, but I have chosen Marseille because they offer a fantastic challenge," Valbuena said.

"The fans, the project and all the competitions they play in, Marseille are a huge club."
